ReportReport
Posted on by 2,055

Hi,

I have develop a report with custom parameters. Which I need to optional, but system make it required. If the value for parameter is not given. Then its generating the error like "Parameter Project missing a value" etc.

How I can make it optional, so if the user can't enter the project, it should generate the report for all projects. Please help me to keep it optional.

Regards.

Nadeem Bhatti

I pressume this is a SSRS report.

In Visual Studio expand the Parameters node set values "Allow Blank" and "Nullable" to True for your optional parameters. Than deploy your report again.

    Hi DAN,

Yes this is SSRS report as I have mention in title. But I do not find property with the name "Allow Blank". I attaching the screen shot. I am using VS 2010.

I can see the following properties with any of the field type.

You should not look under the datasource and parameters. Look at the Parameters presented after the Data Methods.

Have you refreshed the data set in VS because I cannot see your new project parameter in the attached picture.

In the Design mode from VS you can make a parameter optional, by default it is mandatory for every new parameter added
