Upgrade from 8.0 to 10.0 Issues

Frustation building...I'm trying to upgrade to 10.0 from 8.0 SP5 in a test
environment on a Virtual machine.  When it tries to install the components it
fails on the MS Sql Server native client 9, MS Dexterity Shared Components
10, and the MS Application Error reporting 11.  Message - Initialization failed.

It tells me to look at the .tmp file for information but I can't find the
stupid .tmp file.  I'm running the upgrade from the DVD on my local machine
and connecting to the test server via Remote Desktop Connection.  Any help
out there????

Are you using the orginal RTM media or the DVD with SP4 from the CustomerSource site?

The original RTM.  Do you have the link for the DVD/SP4 on CustomerSource?

    Hi Jav,

    Try this link: https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/downloads/servicepacks/md10_releasedownload.htm?printpage=false

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,
    Mike

If you have the original RTM CDs for version 10, my advice is to destroy them.

Thanks everyone.  I was able to find the link.  The wording of the download threw me off.  Upgrade is in process.

    Hi

Are you installing on windows 2008 or windows 7 and is it 32 bit or 64 bit.  You can install these manually then run the install again.  If 64bit you will need to download the 64bit version of those components as the DVD contains 32 bit only.  This willwork even for the RTM version and yes i agree it is a nightmare :)
