SSRS Reports Deployment in Sharepoint Mode

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi,

I am trying to deploy the SSRS Reports with GP2010. I am running the deployment wizard on our GP2010 server. The resporting services is running on a separate windows 2008 server and is running in sharepoint integrated mode. The sharepoint server is also windows 2008 and is running sharepoint 2010.

In the SSRS Deployment wizard, the final step asks for the Report Server URL. What do i provide here? I tried the SSRS Report Server URL, the Sharepoint Server URL and nothing seems to work. Any guidance here will be a great help.

Thanks!

Sandeep.

    Sandeep,

A couple of things to check here.  Do you have a sharepoint site created that has a document library?  If so, is the document library on the main site ( / ) or is it in a child page (something like "/childpage")?

Depending on how you have your site setup the URL could be a couple different ways:

    1.  http://servername/shared documents (if you have the document library on the main sharepoint page).

    2.  http://servername/childpage/shared documents (if you have the document library on a child page).

I have ours setup like example #2 and have had no issues with deploying SSRS reports, redeploying, viewing, or editing.

Let us know how if this helps.

    Regards,

    Aaron

Hi Aaron - thank you for your reply.

I do have a Document Library available at the top level site collection that was created for Business Portal. I am able to access that thru -

    http://ServerName/Shared Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx

    (ServerName = our servername)

This is on the Sharepoint 2010 server, which is a windows 2008 server. SSRS 2008 is installed on another Win2008 server and is running under sharepoint integrated mode.

On the GP 2010 server, i launched the SSRS Wizard, and provided "http://ServerName/Shared Documents" as rthe Report Server URL, but getting the message "The target server location entered is not valid."

I also created a new document library under the top site and called it "Reports". Re-tried with the new URL, http://ServerName/Reports and got the same error.

    Any more suggestions?

    Thanks again,

    Sandeep.

    Hi Sandeep,

Are you in SQL 2008 SP1? If no, can you please upgrade and give it a try?

    Thanks,

Thanks, also you are in GP2010 Feature Pack or RTM? Is it possible for you to send a screenshot of the window you are getting stuck in?

We are on 11.00.1524(SP1) - not sure if this is the Feature pack.

Error Message is - The target server location entered is not valid.

    Thanks!

Okay so you are in SP1 - Feature Pack is SP2.

Now can you check these two things:

    1. Go to Reporting Services Configuration Manager > Web Service Url and click it. It should open up the Report Server

    2. Go to SharePoint Central Admin > General Application Settings > Reporting Services Integration. Your Report Server should be added there.

    Hi Angshu,

    1. It opened up the report manager

    2. I see the same report manager url configured here as well

Only difference is - on the report server SQL machine, the URL has the port 80 included as part of the address. Though it opens fine when i click on the link.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep.

Hi Angshu - wanted to add one more thing.

I was looking to see if the SSRS Deployment Wizard logged the error. I found the logfile, and this is the error being logged -

"PassesUriChecks() - The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized."

The account i am using to run the wizard is a local admin on the GP Server, Reporting Services server as well as Sharepoint server.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep.

Okay. Are you using Kerberos for authentication?
