Duplicate sequence numbers being created

Hello

We're getting a problem when two registers run a credit card at the same exact time.  The RequestTransactionSequenceNumber and the ResponseTransactionSequenceNumber on both transactions are being issued as the same.  Apparently Vantiv is using this field for their Invoice # and it needs to be unique. Has anyone heard of this?

Are you using the same Terminal ID for both stations? Maybe that would fix it after getting a new ID from Mercury/Vantiv

    Jeff,

    A little background on the issue;

    * There are 12 register terminals.

    * There are 9 back-office computers with RMS installed; 2 with POS active

    * This issue is not unique to just 2 registers and can occur with any combination of 2 registers.

    * The issue (technical error when settling credit cards) presented itself for the 1st time on ~7/3/16.

-> This issue is bandaided by manually fixing the RTSN's to unique ones.

    * Every terminal shares the EDC PAC Terminal Number of "1111"

    * Every terminal was replaced on 3/19/16

    * 1st time duplicate RTSN's duplicated on clean install: 3/25/16

    * 1st time in EDC Record with duplicated RTSN's: 8/18/08 (original install)

    Unrelated (?) Issue:

    * One register opens its own batch periodically throughout the day; this issue 1st presented itself on 3/26/16 (day after replacing terminals). Uninstalling / Reinstalling / Updating RMS had no effect on this issue.

I believe something changed when Mercury swapped to Vantiv; Vantiv is telling me nothing has changed on their end. Vantiv has confirmed they made changes to their configuration on 7/3/16; but says there is no way it is related.

For the machine that batches more than once a day, I suspect that you are using the default setting of 100 transactions per day, we usually set the number to 1000.  Make sure that all machines are set the same, SO Admin | File | Configuration | EDC tab | Advanced button | Batch Size.

That might fix the other problem as well.

Also, you might consider moving to their EMV app.  Its a completely different process that Microsoft is using.
