Mass Update Vendor Numbers

Posted on by 185

Is it possible to update the Vendor Numbers en mass without creating new vendors? Using a Configuration Package or Edit In Excel do not work because it creates a new vendor instead of updating the existing vendor. I know I can manually go to a vendor card and update the existing vendor number. Is there a way to do that en mass instead of 1 at a time?

    Hi,

I wont recommend this change , as the vendor No is the primary key and used at all places in the system.

If you still want to do it , do it in presence of expert developer who knows the system.

As mentioned by several experts above, this requires development.
And I don't recommend it very much, because you want to update the primary key of the vendor, please note that the associated table should also be updated.

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.

Custom routine is the old skool way. New skool says use Power Automate. Save an excel file with the current numbers and the new numbers in an excel table. You will need the first column to be the Id value. You can get this via power automate with the find entries action. I mocked up a demo version working on 1 record only.

mid you replace the find entries (eventually) with an excel file saved in O365 then you can loop through those (that’s the apply to each bit) and pass the update action the Id value as the identifier. Put in the “number” field your new value
