In order to mass retire assets in Dynamics GP, consider the following steps

    - Create an Asset Group | Financial > Transactions > Fixed Assets > Select Assets

      • Click on "New Group"
      • Give the group a proper name
      • Now you can add assets to the created group, double click on the group. At the bottom of the screen, choose to "Show All" in order to show assets. Then mark the ones you want to include in this group
      • There is another criteria to include assets within the group. Click on the search and choose the specific criteria you want to consider for the group assets. For instance, all the assets which are in a specific physical locations, or all the assets which are placed in service at the 1st of Jan, 2013.
      • Once you are done with the asset group, click ok

    - The next step is to mass retire the asset group you just created above. Go to Transactions > Fixed Assets > Mass Retirement

      • Fill in the asset group id with the asset group required above
      • Fill in the Retirement Date
      • Fill in the Retirement type
      • Fill in the Retirement Code
      • Most importantly, you need to consider the spread options provided. This is related to the cash proceeds and Non-cash proceed fields. "You can refer to the help by pressing F1, in depth details are provided in order to know which option to consider". By default, the (Use this amount for each asset option is checked)
      • Click on "Retire" to start processing the mass retirement

    -  After that go to Fixed Asset - GL posting to migrate the general ledger journal entries from FA module to GL

    - Finally, the batches created in GL should be posted on the General Ledger level

Please never hesitate to share any further inquiries,

    Mahoud,

My business owners would like list of the assets assigned to a group via SQL query or Smart List

    Do you have one handy?

    Thank you,

    Donnette
