Dears,

What is the proper steps to convert Dynamic servers (Production) to virtual machines, and testing the configuration with new virtual environment.

also, is there any needing to start a fresh installation or just editing configuration on new servers !!

Regards,

Mohamed

    Hi Mohamed,

I guess the question is not so much about Dynamics, but server management and virtual machines.

There are tools to convert physical servers to virtual machines, I found many results with a web search.

If the server names and IP addresses don't change, I guess it should work without any changes in Dynamics setup.

    Thanks Nikolaos,

I already get a copy from Physical servers HDD using P2V tool from MS, but when trying to run new virtual servers the Application server not able to retrieving the Database instance.

so the question, is there any pre-configuration i need to do with new virtual servers !!

NOTE: Taking into consideration the computer name and IP addresses still the same without any change (currently VMs hosted in isolated network for testing).

Can you tell us more about "the Application server not able to retrieving the Database instance."

"so the question, is there any pre-configuration i need to do with new virtual servers !!" <- Most likely not , but post-configuration might be needed.

By the way, you posted in D365 Finance forum. Is your question about Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations or Dynamics AX 2012 or something else?

It's related to Dynamics AX 2012, if this is not the right place to posting my question, please send me the right link.

    Moved to Dynamics AX forum.
