Report for sales by categories?

I want to do a report that shows sales for the last year for each category.

Ideally, it go:

Overall -> Departments -> Categories

I don't want to see individual items.

I haven't found the right report yet in RMS. I get can get department totals easily, but getting a single report with all categories . . . I'm striking out.

Any suggestions?

    No suggestions? This seems like it'd be a standard report.  Does it not exist?

    If report is not available, you have the option to create your own reports as desired using Reporting Services (SSRS)

    Manager, Reports, Sales, Detailed Sales, define date range, OK to run.

    Click Collapse icon in chat toolbar to view totals by Dept.

    To do same for Categories either select Grouping icon in chat toolbar (second icon) and select "Group first 2 columns", or drag the Category column title to the left most column on the report.

    You can also right-click on the report, select Show/Hide, and remove Dept column (as long as it is not first column).
