Material Quantity and Price Variance in Production order

Hi All,

I am encountering an issue relating to segregation of the material quantity and price variances in Microsoft BC. In the system, Inventory is set up on “ FIFO” and we are using FIFO for all Raw materials where as “Finished Goods” are set up on standard at item level.

Below is the inventory posting set up:

Now if there is any variance in production order, either in Cost of ingredients, or in quantity consumed, both are going in “54000” where as I want to track quantity & price variances separately. What is the solution for this issue??

I have the same question (0)

Try going to "Inventory Posting Setup" then set Variant account for each posting group that you want to the account that you want. Then try again with new production order

    Hi,

Thanks for you answer. The above screen shot was from inventory posting set up for different product posting groups. There is only one field available for "Material Quantity Variance" and all variances (Price & Quantity) are going to that particular GL.

Sorry, I thought you were looking for setup area. Do you mean you want to track them separately for each finish good category? Or item per item? or you want them to post in different g/l?

Purchase Price Variance account is setup in General Posting Setup not Inventory Posting Setup. There is no quantity variance posting going to the GL....the quantity variance of materials used on a production order is what creates the material variance.

    Hi,

I want to set up different GL accounts for both quantity and price variances.

    Thanks..

As far as I know that is not possible using standard functionality. So you either need to adapt a manual workflow to handle it or have it customized.  A customization around this could easily be expensive.
