Browser "Back" button saves contact form changes

Hi All,

Just trying to get to grips with Dynamics for a new implementation due to go live in August. One of the major feedback aspects was the ability that Dynamics CRM has to "Save" changes to a Contact when the user clicks the browsers "Back" button.  There is a fear that if a user by accident changes information on a form with out realization and clicks "BACK" they would have committed these changes with out knowledge.

While we can see the "Save" button in the bottom right corner is there a way to enforce a save action on field change? in short disable the back action save? or create a pop up that alerts the user to save the record due to updates applied.

Very new users here and trying to increase knowledge very very quickly before roll out so i expect i will be making use of this resource often as will my Team.

Thanks

    Hi Brookie,

I believe your concern is with Auto Save feature in Dynamics 365 i.e. with auto-save enabled, unknowingly when user make any changes to a record and press back button it will end up saving the change.

To tackle this situation, you can disable the Auto-Save feature in Dynamics 365. Refer article docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-auto-save

With Auto-Save disabled, if any user unknowingly make any changes to any field value and press back button. It will prompt the user to confirm if they want to save the new changes or not.

If this is helpful, kindly mark this as verified.

    Hi

I was able to apply the java which was very helphul. The issue i have is that when the pop up appears and the user clicks on "Save & Continue" the pop up disappears  but the action to save and exit the records is not actioned.... the user have to click the save icon in bottom right of the screen, is this correct?

    Kind Regards

    Darren

When user clicks on button "Save & Continue" the popup should disappear, however it should also save the record.

So if you still see the save icon in the bottom right of the screen, it is not correct. However is this happening with all entity record ?

If its specific to a entity, what is the behavior without any custom script on the form ?
