New Tab/fields to be visible on both Leads & Contacts

I want to create a new Tab that records certain qualification criteria in new fields that  we would use when speaking to a prospect. Looks fairly to simple to do if I'm doing this just on the Contact or Lead forms, but i need this visible at both Lead & Contact level with the ability to pull the entered info through from Lead to Contact when qualified, and the ability to enter or change info at either level dependant on where the prospect is in the sales cycle.

Hope that makes sense.

Any suggestions on how to get underway ?

    Mike,

There is a mapping capabiliy in CRM that will/can map field info from the lead to the contact when the lead is qualified. This is a one time mapping and only goes in one direction from the lead to the contact.

Here are the steps to follow:

    1. Create the new fields in the Lead entity.

    2. Using the same field names, types, length, etc. create them in the Contact entity.

    3. Then in the Lead or Contact entity customatizations 1 to many area find the relationship between the two and initiate an automap.

    4. Step 3 will setup the pairings since  you used the same field names.

    5. Then add the tabs and fields to their respective forms

    6. Publish and you are good to test.
