GP 2013 Startup Folder not working

A few of us have tried the following in GP 2013 and it doesn't seem to work - any fixes or steps we are missing? We created the shortcuts in the Startup folder as instructions below indicate, close out of GP and come back in and none of our windows in the Startup folder open.

"To automatically open a Microsoft Dynamics GP window, website, macro, external document or Smartlist, utilize the Startup folder on the Shortcut bar.

Right-click on the Startup folder and click Add. Any shortcut added to the Startup folder will start automatically when logging in to Microsoft Dynamics GP. "

Why won't you just add shortcuts in the Navigation Pane rather than adding a separate folder with a list of your shortcuts. Right click on any blank space under the Home NAV (Far left on your home page) and add a shortcut. We have GP 10 and I believe the functionality should be the same in GP 2013. Let me know if this works.
