GP 2010 Table errors

I'm having great difficulty in finding troubleshooting help for GP 2010.  I've set up a test environment to upgrade our company database from GP 10 to GP 2010 and can't find any help for 4 tables that won't upgrade

GL10110, GL10111, GL70500 and GL70501.

I tried deleting the views dependant on GL10110 and GL10111 and while it seemed to taking longer to process so I thought that the upgrade was successful it still errored out on those 4 tables.

The error message is to "Remove the temporary table at the database level."  What temporary table?  What will it be named?

Hello folks, sorry for duplication but I am stuck here and I don't know how to apply your recommandation as I can't perform any of the step, the reason being not able to log in

Dicussed issue back in 2010,  I wonder if there is any updated fix to this.

I have GP 10.00.1835 SP 5 and I am upgradign it with GP2010 ver. 2010.00.1914.

The error message I am getting is to "Remove of temporary tables at the database level failed."

I saw this issue being discussed back in 2010 but all of 4 companies in my Test environment ( I have only one live DB, two emplty DB and sample Fabrikam, too)

In my DB maintennace option, I can see only Dynamics  and not other 2+1 company DBs.

the upgrade is failing, not being able to remove temporary tables and listing 4 tables( GL10110, GL10111, GL70500 & GL70501) cann't be updated.

I tried to upgrade all 4 one by one but ending up with the same output.

    Any idea, help or tip

    Hi Dianna, Mariano and Leslie,

Just to let you know that I did a test upgrade today and received the same errors as Diana. Looks like this could be a wider issue than just with Dianna's data.

I left the error message open and dropped the tables in SQL, I then clicked to reattempt the upgrade of each of the tables, and since it didn't find them it just gave a warning message and I was able to continue with the upgrade.

However I got a second error later on where the upgrade was trying to query one of the tables I dropped. I came out of the upgrade of the company database, added a new company and scripted the tables across as Dianna did. I re-ran the upgrade and it completed fine.

Now when I log in I keep being asked to run Utilities...I've run it a few times, I'm told that the company is alredy upgraded...but it just keept trying to run utilities. To resolve, I edited the dex.ini file and set Synchronise = FALSE.

Was then able to launch GP...still testing!!

My test environment didn't have GP 10 installed so I was unable to go into the company in the pre-upgrade state to use the SQL Maintenance screen and since the upgrade didn't work of course GP 2010 wasn't going to let me do that.  I ended up creating the sample database, and then in SQL Sever Management Studio selecting each of the 4 tables that were causing me issues and select on the right click menu Script Table as >> CREATE to >> New Query Editor Window.  I then changed the "use" statement in the CREATE script to reference my company database that had failed on upgrade so that the tables were created with the correct definition.  I was then able to continue the upgrade which completed with success and I was able to log into GP.  I will have to do further testing that those tables are usable but at least I was able to get through the upgrade.

    Dianna,

Try going into the SQL maintenance screen (Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Maintenance >> SQL), and drop then recreate the tables. The tables will be created according to the Dexterity definition, sometimes that will put the tables in an upgradeable state.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

So, are you able to log into GP or not?

  • Re: Re: GP 2010 Table errors

My GL70500 and GL70501 tables were completely empty so I don't know why they wouldn't upgrade.  Removing the tables caused a script exception during the upgrade when the GL10111 view was attempted to be created since the GL10110 table didn't exist.

I didn't see any data corruption in the tables when I did a SELECT *.  Now I'm stuck with a failed upgrade.  Any other suggestions out there?

    Hi Dianna,

The GL70500 and GL70501 tables are report options tables (only GL70501 is a temp table). When you create a new report option for Financial (Reports  >> Financial), the details of these options get stored in these tables. Deleting the tables means that you would have to re-set up your reports. The table names are something like 'General Ledger Report Options Temporary'

The GL10110 (Account Current Summary Master) and GL10111 (Account Summary History) are the Account Currency tables. You can drop these tables, but you might have to re-assign currencies to the Chart of Accounts (you can use Cards >> Financial >> Currency Account Update). I also think you would have to run a financial reconcile on all open years - (Tools >> Financial > Reconcile) - always start with the earliest open year and work your way forward.

Not much, but it might point you in the right direction. Since this is a test system, go ahead and drop the tables. You know where to look in GP if the upgrade is a success, to see what effect dropping the tables had. You could also run a SELECT * query against those tables and look for any data corruption. Fixing or deleting any corrupted records might allow the upgrade to go ahead...just a thought.

    Ian.
