GL Year-end Close Interrupted - Historical Year stuck in Open status

The GP ran Year-end Close Routine for 2012, but the year-end report did not print.  When checking the inquiry windows, 2013 shows the BBF journal entry for the beginning balances, but 2012 still shows as an open year in the Summary inquiry windows, but with no transactions.  The TB for 2012 shows no activity. But GL30000 shows all the 2012 transactions.

The Reconcile utility does not seem to fix the issue that the transfer of the 2012 data was not completed.

Anyone else experience the same issue?

    Gina,

    I would recommend restoring from the backup you (hopefully) made right before the year end close and starting again.  If there is no backup, you may need to work with your GP Partner or GP Support to determine exactly what the status of everything is and help you fix it.

    Hi Victoria, unfortunately there is no backup. Running the Reconcile utility does not appear to help.  And the bbf entry is not balanced.  Is there a way to reverse the closing process?

    Gina,

    I am not aware of any way to reverse it.  Nor would I except anything inside GP (like Reconcile or Check Links) to help.  I suspect the only way to fix this would be in the tables.  I would double check with your IT department to see if there is any way to do a point in time restore.  If the close was not to long ago and that is possible, that may be the best bet.  :-(

    Are the transactions gone from the gl20000 table? Youse just be able to change the flag on the period set up to historical. Does the closing entry exist?

    They are gone from the gl20000 table and sitting in the gl30000 table. but 2012 still shows as an open year in the inquiry windows and reports.  Also, the bbf is posted but it is unbalanced.

    Any other ideas? Could it be that we can move the gl30000 rows with 2012 histyear value to gl20000 and run reconcile and re-close the year?
