Trial Balance is Unbalanced for a Specific Month

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

The "Unit Accounts" is unchecked and still won't balance. But, If I check the box for "Inactive Accounts" then the number of accounts increases by 2 and the report balances out fine.

Why do I need to need to include "Inactive Accounts" to balance it out and how do I fix it?

    Jehan,

I would get a trial balance report that only included my inactive accounts. How to do it is to go into the Accounts Navigation List, do a Save As and put your initials at the end. Select your Navigation List and choose 'Customize'. On the List View customization window, hit the little blue arrow next to columns. Add the column Active. Back on your list, put in a restriction so that only accounts with Active = No are displayed. Check the box at the top of the list so that all of the inactive accounts are selected. Go to the Reports tab and select Print Trial Balance. You'll get a trial balance (detailed or summary, your choice) for only the inactive accounts. It will make the accounts with balances easier to find.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

I understand that If an account was inactivated, it will not show up on the Trial Balance unless the included inactive accounts box is checked.  But, I when I check this box, I don't see any Inactive (marked with "X") having the amount that is unbalanced.
