Inventory Posting Setup....Does Not Exist 2 - The Sequel

Hello:

It seems like every step of the way when I go to post something in a sample company, I get blocked by a "posting setup does not exist" message or some sort of similar message.  Oh, well.

Anyway, I'm trying to post a simple inventory Transfer Order and I thought that I placed the Inventory Posting Group stuff in the warehouse(s).  But, now, I keep getting a message referencing Location Code = ''.

How do I eliminate this, so that I may post?

    Hi John,

    Thank you for submitting your post.

    You would need to have your Inventory Posting Group first assigned to your Item Card....not the warehouse.

    Will your Transfer go in and out of In transit locations, or do you have it marked as a Direct Transfer?

    Not sure why it is referencing a blank location.  Do you have a line in the Inventory Posting Setup with a blank Location? 

    Try adding that and see what happens.

    Thank you, for the quick response!

    I forgot that the error message does reference the Inventory Posting Group called "RESALE".  But, RESALE is already on the Item card.

    I have this marked as a Direct Transfer.

    Inventory Posting Setup is not set up as a blank Location.

    very strange....

    Hi Bryan:

    Apparently, since it is direct transfer, you in fact have to have a "blank" location ID specified in Inventory Posting Setup.  Thank you, for leading me there!!!

    Hi John,

    If I remember correctly, a Direct Transfer posts and in and out to a blank location....  Check out your Item Ledger Entries for the item.  That is probably the reasoning.  The Item Ledger Entry will contain the Value Entry, which also posts to the GL, so that will be a blank location.  Thanks!
