I installed the DynamicsGP2010 Word addin on a Terminal Server as administrator, and the Addin is available for the Administrator in MS Word, but a Terminal Server User cannot see the DynamicsGP addin in the MS Word Addins.
We have added the Developer Ribbon to MS Word.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mick Egan

Since no one spelled it out, and I just spent some time on this I'll give you a step by step on how to do this for any number of users on any system (Terminal Server/RDS or Stand Alone).
1) Login as an Admin
2) Install GP Word Add-in from the Installation media
3) Open up Word
4) Go to File > Options > Add-ins > At the bottom, hit "Go" beside COM Add-ins.
5) Make sure you see the GP Word Add-in.
6) Close Word
7) Open regedit.
8) Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins
9) Right click the Key Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.BusinessIntelligence.BITemplateMapping and choose Export. Save the file in a place that the user accounts can access.
10) Close everything and log out
11) Log in as the regular user that wishes to have the Add-in installed for
12) Browse to the location of the Reg file that you exported and double click to import it.
13) Open Word
14) Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon > Put a checkmark in the "Developer" Tab on the right. Click OK.
15) Go to the Developer Tab and you should now see the Dynamics GP Add-in Section with Field List
If you are doing this on an RDS server 'presenting' apps to users, you'll have to RDP to the server or present the appropriate apps/windows explorer to do this.
Can anyone give me the location of the dll for the Add-in?
I did find a workaround--I can get it installed on the TS if I log in as the user, find in the registry where the installer file is located, and then install it from C:\Windows\Installer.
I'm having trouble registering the add-in--we have a 64 bit windows 7 system on a terminal server and although I'm running as admin and in the syswow64 directory when running regsvr32, I get errors. What was the command used for you?
Yeah - a user rights problem most likely. I figured you might be using windows 7 - having all sorts of install issues with that lately!!
Good that its sorted.
Ian.
Ian,
Thanks for your assistance, this helped point us the the right direction.
We registered the Addin using regsvr32 and now the user can use the DynamicsGP addin in MS Word.
Thanks,
Mick
Ian,
I will give this a try and respond once completed.
Machine is Windows2003 Service Pack2
Thanks,
Mick
Try granting the domai user the right to install software (give them admin rights temporarily) - install the add in again while logged in with their domain user ID.
What OS is running on the TS?
Ian.
Sorry - not a suggested answer - I have the same issue and hadn't had a chance to do anything about it yet so want to get updates if you get a response to this.
