Potential issues in making dimensions mandatory on all accounts

Hello,

I have 4 dimensions which are in a hierarchical structure. I have set that hierarchy on all the accounts.

so

10000.99999 .... 1st Combination of Financial Dimensions

10000.99999 .... 2nd Combination of Financial Dimensions.

So and so forth.

What could be the potentials issues in this account structure. Other than having to mention dimensions each time. Will there be an issue in automatic postings?

And later if I want to add more dimensions how do I do that? With Advanced Rules?

Shall I make the entire Account structure with Advanced rules? But are Advanced rules available in basic budget, control and planning??

Appreciate any tips.

Best Regards,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi MYGz,

As you already mentioned advanced rule can be used,

When it applies to Budget, You can also use the Budget transfer rules form to define budget transfer rules to determine when budget transfers are allowed between financial dimension values (e.g. dimension combinations)

Please check more info in Microsoft docs:

    A couple questions -

    1. Perhaps I don't understand, but how do you have different dimension requirements on the same range of accounts in the same Company?

    2. Why would you consider creating an Account structure using all Advanced Rules?  Seems it would be exceedingly complex

There's nothing preventing adding more dimensions to an account structure at a later date, realizing of course that any transactions posted before addition of new dimensions would be missing those new dimensions with no way to add them.

    Thank you guys.

Frank Hamelly Was stuck in tasks, apologies for the late reply,

    1. I have one dimension hierarchy on all the accounts. So under department 1000 only 1100 sub department can be entered, 2100 cannot.

    2. I see, just exploring all the options.
