Save operation on 'UPR_MSTR_PAY_TYPE' failed accessing SQL data

When a user tries to change a pay rate for an employee, the receive an error "A save operation on UPR_MSTR_PAY_TYPE failed accessing SQL data".  If I login with the 'sa' account, after changing the pay rate amount, a prompt pops up asking "Do you want to roll down the rate change to all of this employee's pay codes that are based on theis pay code?"  I click on "Yes" and it saves the change.  I've run grant.sql, but the error persists.  What else can I do to resolve this?

Cancel.  I restarted the SQL server and all is well now.
