Contacts as Customers

I posted a similar question in the Dynamics 365 Integration Forum and have gotten no replies.  We are a long-time Dynamics CRM on-prem customer (since 3.0).  We recently migrated to online and are wanting to move to Business Central for our accounting because of the deep integration possible with Dynamics CRM (Sales and Customer Service).

My problem is with how customers are handled in BS vs Dataverse (Sales, CS, etc).  We have both Accounts (businesses) and Contacts (people) as customers, probably 90% contacts vs accounts.

The Account table seems to sync easily with BC but I'm having a hard time understanding the Contact Sync and how that can allow our CRM/Dataverse contacts to be customers in BC without manual intervention and losing the integration that is so appealing.

Feedback and advice appreciated.

    Hi,
haven't done integrations to CRM, so cannot fully answer the question, but the structure of Customers/Contacts in BC is following:

Customer table - this is the number to which invoices/payments and this customer contacts are linked.
Contacts - separate list of contact persons. You can have a Type Company to be as header under which You have all the contact cards from this one company. Company contact card is linked to the Customer card.

Also in Customer card You can indicate Partner Type = Company / Person - if You want to be able to easily filter out two types of customers.

So You should aim to synchronize your Account and contact list from CRM to the Customer list in BC. You can have different numbering here for both types and use the Partner Type = Company for the Accounts from CRM, and Partner Type = Person for the Contacts list from CRM.

Thank you both for your information.  I had discovered those things with available info on the subject and have concluded that the BC to Dataverse OOB connection is just not build to have customers as a table in BC sync with more than one table in Dataverse -which is Accounts and that makes sense.

I may try to use Virtual Tables or an OAUTH connection to pull some data from customers that are CRM contacts to their record in the future.  For now, I'll focus on getting moved into Business Central from Sage 50 and getting the OOB integration working fully.

Maybe reading this will save someone else all the time I've spent looking for a solution that is not there OOB.

    Thanks again.
