Hi All

How do I edit the digits of the Business unit number?  I don't want AX to restrict the number of digits.  Currently, it has 8 digits. Thanks.

    Hello Kim,

You cannot rename or change the number in this field once it is created.

You would rather have to delete it and create a new operating unit.

The number sequence that is used for this number is the one shown in the next screenprint.

You can set this one to manual, which allows you selecting any number you would like to have.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

I am currently not having AX, however this is possible n D365 FO.

In the page- you select 'option' and the record info- and rename.

If you can not find in AX, you may have to delete it or suspend it and create new value.

In general, renaming the record using this functionality is not a good idea. It can cause severe data issues, if some related data is missed by the system when it's doing the update.

    Hi Kim,

A business unit is also a findim and if you don't want that people use it when they record transactions then you can suspend the findim.

Instead of renaming an already existing BU for which you have recorded transactions and possibly created financial reports, it is better to create a new one and suspend the use of the old one.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
