Is there a way to change the default lookup view in a lookup field?

I created a new entity called corporations. The corporations type can be: Owners, Contractors, Managements...

In my opportunity, I created a lookup fields called Contractors which looks into corporations entity. Also a field called Owners which looks into corporation entity.

When I am in my opportunity form and want to look up contractors, it always default the lookup view to be " Corporation lookup view".  Same goes with the Owners field. It always default to the "Corporation lookup view". That's a lot of records for users to go through. I want to be able to specify a particular lookup views for a particular fields in my opportunity.

Is there a way that I can specify a particular view to be the default for a particular field? Say  create a "Contractors lookup view" with the filter of Contractors type for the Contractor field in Opportunity .

Or create a "Owners lookup view" with filter of Owners type for the Owners field in Opportunity? and this would be the default lookup view when I am in the Owners field?

Thanks.

    Hello CharleWinn:

Not sure if this is the best solution, but you could make a workflow that when a  new corporations Reported is created the it will populate the particular field that you want.

In this case I think you can use Lookup prefilter. when user clicks on Contractors lookup it will be prefiltered to Contractors, if owners then it will show only Owners

Here are details on how to prefilter  lookup

    also you can check

    Hope this will help...
