    Thanks Sukrut

Means if I need to do my modifications on Standard EDTs , Enum , Tables etc... Then I need to go through "Extension" only

Else if NO modifications required on Standard objects then I can use Directly those objects as per business need.

    Is't correct?

Please give me more shed on this.

    Thanks!

    Hi Arpan,

An EDT extension will modify the behavior of the EDT where it is also used in the standard application.  If you want to do this, go and extend it.

If you only need e.g the customer account in another new table, you can use the standard EDT directly as you then want to have the same behavior on this field as other tables like a sales order account number..

    Thanks Andre,

    But still i have confusion

When to exactly use EDT Extension and EDT directly.

Kindly verify my above assumption is correct?

Please give me more shed on this.

    Hi Arpan,

If you want to e.g. extend a string size or change the label or help throughout the application for this EDT, you can use an extension.

So or you want to change the behavior of a standard EDT; then extend it.

If you have a table where you want to use an existing EDT; then just use it directly. I think this is also mentioned already above...

    Thanks Andre,

So, It's universal behaviour of Extension for any objects right?

Please give me more shed on this.

    Thanks!

    Hi Arpan,

Your question was about the extension of EDT. What do you mean with "universal" and "any objects"?

  • @rp@n Profile Picture

Here Universal means the behavior of Extension is same for all objects like EDT, Base Enum, Tables etc...

Please give me more shed on this
