Hi there,
We have a linked clone VMWare environment and, after having numerous failed attempts at packaging CRM 2011 for Outlook (the Windows Identity Service would not install or the package 'Extension filename is too long;....' if I tried to run the standalone MS KB package for this) I have had to put CRM in our core image.
The problem I now face is this: any user that opens outlook see's the plugin initialise (the 'Config Wizard window appears) and they have to configure the plugin. Only once the plugin is configured can they hide it/remove it - equally, once it's configured the HKCU reg key below is created, which is what I need to control the load behaviour. I understand how I can prevent it from loading AFTER it's configured, but I want the package to sit silently within our core image and NOT initialise in the Outlook startup screen. I also don't want it disappear from the start menu (along with windows identity links) and only 'initialise' for users of CRM.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\crmaddin.Addin
Has anyone found a way around this without upgrading CRM (We are bound to this version so please don't suggest upgrading!). I've tried to find any reg keys within HKLM or HKCU on the provisioning machine (where we package the software) to try and disable it alltogether, but no joy. Any info on reg keys that pertain to the app, or how to control Outlook startup add-in load behaviours would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys
Dave
