Hi,

I have types of items that have two different Parent Category. Example, we sell Bar Stools models for Indoor and Outdoor and i want them to appear in both Parent Categories. How do you go about including this Bar Stool subcategory in the Indoor Parent Category?

I have the same question (0)

Can you elaborate on where you are creating/viewing the categories and how you adding the items?

For an individual item I went through this route,

Item Card-> Item Category Code-> Select - Item Categories

    Thank you,

What version of D365 do you have? Also can you send a screenshot?

What do you see when you navigate to Product Information Management>Setup>Categories and attributes>Category Hierarchies?

I don't think you can reuse categories. If Bar Stool subcategory has to exist under several parent categories you will have to create it separately under each parent category.

You can assign item to several different categories (Outdoor/Bar stools, Indoor/Bar stools, etc.) if these categories belong to hierarchy with type "Retail channel navigation hierarchy"

We are using  D365 Business Central. Category hierarchy does not seem to be a thing in this version of D365?

Here's a screenshot of the Item Categories page.

Oh, in this case it has to be moved to Business Central forum.

    Hi,

In the Procurement Category Hierarchy, subcategory names and codes cannot be identical. To create a subcategory, you must differentiate its code from its name. You can achieve this by adding a letter or number to the code.

    Thanks,
    Shankar
