Print product label from Mobile Device

Hi,

please advise,

Is there a possibility to print product labels from Mobile Device (in cases when label is damaged or missing, for example)

I tried to set a Mobile device menu item with the Activity code=Reprint label  for this purpose, but this functionality is asking for a License Plate number for reprint:

The issue is, that License Plate number is not used. Warehouse worker can scan only a Product Number / UPC / EAN Barcode to print the labels.

Thanks!

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Jana,

The data for labels is kept in a table call WHSLicencePlateLabel Table and the only way to reprint label using the Mobile Device menu option reprint label is using the LP number.

As an alternative, you can work around by using a Move by Template mobile menu option with a work template that has a print step (pick-print-put).  Your mobile user would select that option, scan the location, enter the item number (and the quantity, batch number, etc) and select the put location (same as the pick).  This will create a new entry in the WHSLicencePlateLabel table.

You would also need to create a Document Routing for work type 'Movement' that uses the same Document Routing Layout.

Because a new entry is createdm if your label had information from a Production Order or a Purchase Order, that new label would not have this information.

    Hope that helps!

    Danny

    Hi Jana,

Until the version 10.0.25, there is no way to reprint a label from it’s item id. If I’m understanding well, the workers are struggling with LPs when they want to perform a picking work.

First you can create a mobile device menu item Action code =”movement by template” and then insert a print instruction int the work template

    work-template.png_2D00_640x480.png

    Work template:

     mi-wt.png

Second : There is a new feature you can take a huge advantage from without reprinting the labels.

Here is scenario that can be useful in your case:

picking work With selection of the LP from a list

    5466.mobile.png

After opening the work you want to execute, click on the new button “Location inquiry”

It opens a location inquiry form with the picking location of the work then click on ok

It opens the list of LPs within the location. Click on LP card

The app goes back to the picking work and brings the LP Number

    Create an App Detours

    APP-DET.png

    1. Create a mobile device step for this menu item under (Warehouse management> Setup > Mobile device >Mobile device step)
    2. Create an app Detour for the mobile device step
    • Add a step confirmation
    • Go to available detours (menu items) Fast Tab and select an available select “Location Inquiry”
    • Click on select field to send
      1. send to detour the location
      2. Send back after detour LP

N.B : In order to use this feature you need to activate those features in the feature management workspace

    In this order

    1. Warehouse app step instructions
    2. Warehouse management app detours

Hi, Danny, thank you for your reply.

I have set up a workaround by using a "Movement by template". But stuck at "select the put location (same as the pick)" step. I cannot select the same location, put location is always pre-defined, if I try to select another location, I get the error (see print screen below).

Question - is there a possibility to select user-defined location directly from this form (without "Override Loc" button functionality?)

    Hi Jana,

You can use a simple workaround,

    Create a multilevel work template

    6354.aaa.png

Create a location called for exemple "Reprint".

Create a location directive for the directive code "Reprint"

    Hello Jana,

You are completely right,  done properly the work template & location directive combination will provide a location.

It is a work around to reprint a label, so you will need to be open minded and deliberately break that rule...

    1) You start by configuring your targetted 'Inventory Movement' location directive to return an invalid location (eg: Location = xxx);

    pastedimage1647895647317v1.png

    and

    2) Configure the Loacation Directive failure for Inventory Movement to allow work creation in case of location directive failure.

In this manner, work will be created with no 'Put' Location' and the user will have be required to scan or enter the location in the empty field to complete the work.

    Hope that helps!

    Regards,

    Danny

Beside Danny workaround.  I'm not seeing a direct way of achieving that.

It’s possible to create a custom step for your requirements It not complex, but it would be a customization.

Mehdi, I was not able to setup Directive code in Work template lines - the field is disabled for "Inventory movement" work order type. How did you manage to fill it?

Medhi and Danny, thank for your replies, I used your both ideas to make a combination of setups to reach the desired result.

Looks quite complicated. I hope Microsoft will implement some thing more convenient in the nearest future.

Here is the step-by-step setup I have done:

    1.     Mobile device: Fake Location type setup

     pastedimage1647944079580v1.png

    2.     Mobile device: Fake Work class setup

     pastedimage1647944086137v2.png

    3.     Mobile device: Work template setup

    4.     Mobile device: Directive code setup

    5.     Mobile device: Location Directive setup

    6.     Mobile device: menu items setup

    Hi Jana,

You need to create first a work template with two couples of (Pick,Put). then it will allow you to modify the directive code for the put oe in the midle.

    Regards,

    Mehdi

    Hi Jana,

    You got it.

If you already have a work class for Inventory Movement, Steps 1 and 2 are not required but they dont hurt.

For sake of completeness dont forget step 4.5:

    pastedimage1647952130414v1.png

and Document Routing for work type <Inventory Movement>.
