Print product label from Mobile Device

Posted on by 95

Hi,

please advise,

Is there a possibility to print product labels from Mobile Device (in cases when label is damaged or missing, for example)

I tried to set a Mobile device menu item with the Activity code=Reprint label  for this purpose, but this functionality is asking for a License Plate number for reprint:

The issue is, that License Plate number is not used. Warehouse worker can scan only a Product Number / UPC / EAN Barcode to print the labels.

Thanks!

    Hi Jana,

    Option 1: (Standard Recomanded)

What I do in this case, I go to reprint Label (it 99% propose you the last LP) and I reprint it as much as wanted.

    Option 2: (Standard)

Do the same operation as much as you want of Labels.

Option 3 : (Standard through ZPL)

You will need to create Mutliple label Templates and in the label indicate how much Labels you want. then you will need to create as much as mobile menu items and work templates as Label templates.

Option 4 : (through an Extension)

add in your work template a custom work type between the Pick and the put line for capturing the data (Number of lables). (Standard)

Create Custom method and tie it to the custom work type. (This method will need to look to the captured data and set it as a paramet for printing as much as wanted labels). This is a link that explains it well and it so close to you case.

    Medhi and Danny,

Any Ideas how to get 3 labels printed in this case?

    Hi Jana,

    You got it.

If you already have a work class for Inventory Movement, Steps 1 and 2 are not required but they dont hurt.

For sake of completeness dont forget step 4.5:

and Document Routing for work type <Inventory Movement>.

    Hi Jana,

You need to create first a work template with two couples of (Pick,Put). then it will allow you to modify the directive code for the put oe in the midle.

Medhi and Danny, thank for your replies, I used your both ideas to make a combination of setups to reach the desired result.

Looks quite complicated. I hope Microsoft will implement some thing more convenient in the nearest future.

Here is the step-by-step setup I have done:

    1.     Mobile device: Fake Location type setup

     pastedimage1647944079580v1.png

    2.     Mobile device: Fake Work class setup

    3.     Mobile device: Work template setup

    4.     Mobile device: Directive code setup

Mehdi, I was not able to setup Directive code in Work template lines - the field is disabled for "Inventory movement" work order type. How did you manage to fill it?

Beside Danny workaround.  I'm not seeing a direct way of achieving that.

It’s possible to create a custom step for your requirements It not complex, but it would be a customization.

    Hello Jana,

You are completely right,  done properly the work template & location directive combination will provide a location.

It is a work around to reprint a label, so you will need to be open minded and deliberately break that rule...

    1) You start by configuring your targetted 'Inventory Movement' location directive to return an invalid location (eg: Location = xxx);

    pastedimage1647895647317v1.png

    and

    2) Configure the Loacation Directive failure for Inventory Movement to allow work creation in case of location directive failure.

In this manner, work will be created with no 'Put' Location' and the user will have be required to scan or enter the location in the empty field to complete the work.

    Hope that helps!

    Regards,

    Danny
