Transfer Orders - Transfer to/from contact

Hi,

Can anyone please shine some light on two fields found in Transfer order (header) form.

The fields are:

  • Transfer from contact
  • Transfer to contact

I have a customer who would like to transfer goods to 'sales representatives'. For this we were hoping to use a transfer order destined to a dummy warehouse. Ideally we would select the contact so the address would be updated. Unfortunately that is not the case, currently when I select contact in either field - nothing happens. Is there any hidden functionality?

    Hi Adrian,

    Can you explain the requirement with more detail? A sales representative is not a storage dimension. The transfer orders do need a change in warehouse.

    Hi André,

    You could think of sales represantitve as existing field 'supplier' on a warehouse.

    Requirement is simple - we need to take an item from actual warehouse and dispatch it to company's employee address. We need the usual shipping paperwork and the stock should be still with company - hence the idea to create transfer order and set up sales represantatives as warehouses.

    I don't like the idea of having to create numerous warehouses so wanted to check whether the aforementioned 'transfer to contact' does anything.

    In a nutshell this is what we are doing - transfering items to a contact (sales representative) and using a dummy warehouse to enable this.

    Hi Adrian,

    Wasn't able to test it in detail; however, the below appears in a Contoso environment. It's using the worker information to populate this information [HcmWorker form]

    Hi Alice,

    Thank you for getting back. This is as far as I got as well - I was able to select the worker but it did not have real effect on transfer order.

    I assume the field is used for reporting only.

    Yes, as far as I know you can use it for reporting purposes only indeed.

    Hi Adrian,

    The transfer to employee is not part of the inventory transaction; only as a registration on the transfer order.

    If you don't want to create warehouses per employee, I can fully understand it. I wouldn't want to do that either. Actually, you can consider creating one 'Employee' warehouse and then within that warehouse locations for each employee.
