You might need to give a few more details on what you are looking to accomplish.

How would you calculate the probability?

what triggers the workflow to run

what should happen when the workflow is triggered

I could now turn the opportunity probability field via form. But I would like this process to happen automatically.

As it stands today that I have to fill the percentage probability of the opportunity.

As mentioned above you need to define what will trigger the change of probability percentage or how the calculation will be made.

You could have a workflow that fires on create or update of certain fields that in the logic steps through and works out how far they are now through the process by what fields have been updated and you set the relevant percentage in the wf.

Other possibilities if you have 2013 are to make use of the business process flow and with the change of stageid you increment the probability in the workflow. I have done something similar and is quite a nice solution but requires a custom wfh assembly to ensure the wfh doesn't trigger on the user going back a stage.

Hope you find a solution that works for you

As the process still does not exist, I was thinking something like:

    Suspect 0%

    prospect 10%

    Proposal 25%

    negotiation 50%

    Deal 75%

OK, so by what logic does the system "know" that an Opportunity is a "Prospect" or at "Proposal" stage?

Perhaps it is a prospect once you have added an estimated close date? And becomes a proposal when the first Quote is activated - these are different triggers to start a workflow to recalculate the value.

Until you can actually figure out the business logic in a black and white way that you could map out on a flowchart for example (although you don't need to necessarily do that), you won't be able to start building a workflow for it.

    Hi Camilla,

I assume your references to the Statuses of Suspect, Prospect, Proposal, negotiation and Deal are your pipeline phases?  If so, you could create a workflow that starts when the Record Status Changes or When The Record Field of Pipeline Phase Changes.

I have pasted an example of a workflow that you could replicate for your pipeline below:

This is a relatively simple process flow, but it should work for your needs.
