Business Central SaaS Updated to 19.0 the Excel Add In stopped functioning

The Exel Addin has stopped functioning on version 19 of BC after it was updated for us yesterday.

Any attempt to open something/edit in excel sees the error "unable to load metadata for the entity."

Anyone else experiencing this? Is this system-wide? Anything we could try?

Thanks

It is working fine in the installations i have testet it on. But this is a feature that can be controlled with the D-365 Excel exporthandling permission. Are you sure you have that permission in your enviornment?

The users have this. The issue seems to be intermittent. It allows them occasionally, then it swaps back to not working.

Then i will advice you to open a support ticket with Microsoft through your CPS partner. It could be an issue with your Business Central tenant.

We have done that as well. Thanks. Was posting here for visibility and potential quick fixes if it was not tenant-related, but this is what we have also thought. Thanks for taking the time.

Hi, this seems to be related to this update.

We have a similar issue. For us after the update, we no longer see the option to Edit in Excel on our journal screens in BC. The options seems to have disappeared after the update and no other changes or permissions have been edited. Annoying!

The icon is on the right side and is the share icon. It opens up a menu to do what you are looking for. Open in Excel, Edit in Excel, etc...

As for the issue, with Microsoft report we did:

If you have the issue again, two things to try:

    1. Clear the query cache in Excel. Then close/restart Excel.

    2. Close Excel. Open Business Central and Edit the Customet List via Excel. You do not have to publish anything but loading an external sheet outside of the journals seems to trigger correct functionality. Once the data loads, you can close it and try a Journal.
    Hope this helps others.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. Such a simple thing and it stumped our whole team. All the best
