F&O record created from Dataverse via Dula-Write but F&O didn't write back

I created a Service Order Line (SMAServiceOrderLine) entity that I use with dual-write. I can successfully insert a record into my corresponding dataverse table and that record will create a record in F&O.
However, I was expecting F&O, via dual-write, to write the new LineNumber from the inserted record back into the corresponding record in dataverse, however it didn't happen.

    Hi Brad,

Correct. CE is one of the applications using the Dataverse as database. If possible, I would ensure Dataverse would take care of filling the Line Number and pass it to F&O. If this is not possible, you would need a separate action that would then update Dataverse.

    Andre,

Thank you.  I'm not sure I 100% understand. By CE do you mean the Dataverse?
Also, what would be standard functionality in this situation?  Should Dataverse populate the Line Number on the Service Order Line and pass it to F&O or should F&O create that and pass it back?

    Hi b radlyjames,

This is not how dual write functions. When you add or change a record, within the same transaction, it will create or update a record in the other application. What will be written is designed with a data entity. In case CE has less information, you can indeed initialize and complete more fields in F&O, but this will not again trigger another update from F&O to CE.
In case the line number should be filled in CE and you start the data entry in CE, you must ensure the line number will be created in CE and passed to F&O with the mapping definitions. Only when after the dual write, an update will be done in F&O, then using dual write, it can pass particular field values back to CE.
