Change or select batch number on Adv Warehouse management

Hi all,

I need some help here, does anyone can show me how is batch number control process on AX 2012.

I can't find a way to change or select batch number on picking or packing process.

Hi Benny,

Its a long setup and without details to your setup will be difficult to explain where you stand as of now but just to give you an hint

Check tracking dimension group of the product

reservation hierarchy to have batch number above location

Storage dimension to have warehouse management activated

On the sales orders reservation is needed to release the order to warehouse

Work template setup in WMS

Location directive setup for selecting pick and put locations

The batch number is selected based on the setup in WMS in location directives and its not manually selected.

1.Tracking dimension, batch control was active, others remain blank.

2.reservation hierarchy i had set batch number below location, cause i wish get batch number after sales order.

3.Storage dimension all is active, except pallet ID

4.Work template- set, pick and put, directive code = pack, work clasee id =sales

5.location direct setup

pick-location bulk-001 non LP

put-location pack, directive code= pack

If you're using Batch below, the warehouse module will choose the location which contains the batch you should pick. The Location Directive Action (which has 'Batch enabled' ticked) can be used to ensure AX chooses the location you want. You have the Strategy 'FEFO batch reservation' to help with this, or you can use Sorting on the query of the Location Directive Action (e.g. sort by Batch Expiration date in Ascending order).

When the user executes the pick work, they will be sent to that location. If the location contains only one batch of the item I think AX will not ask for the Batch Id at all. If the location contains multiple batches, the user could pick any, but the setting 'Pick oldest batch' on the mobile device menu item can be used to enforce that they pick the earliest expiring.

Hi Benny,

In your Reservation hierarchy, is 'Batch' above or below 'Location'?

If Above, then 'No', you cannot change it via Warehouse processes.

Hi Benny,

The reservation hierarchy on the item should be Batch Below (batch number below location).

"Batch Enabled" check should be enabled on the sales orders location directive.

Once done with the above two setups, create an order, release the same to the warehouse, generate the work and scan the work ID on the WMDP.
