Business Portal 5.1 Role Setup

Hi Guys,

I am setting up business portal 5.1 for a client.  I started by setting up a sandbox environment for testing.  This is my first ever GP Implementation for a client.  I have everything setup and I am working on business portal.  I have installed business portal 5.1 on sharepoint server enterprise 2010. When I view the orders page or purchasing page i get an unknown error.  I checked the event logs on the server and got this.

Microsoft.BusinessFramework.Security.SecurityException: To use this page, you must be assigned to the Customer or Salesperson advanced role. (Fabrikam, Ltd./Administrator)
   at Microsoft.GreatPlains.Web.OrderManagement.UserHelper.get_Salesperson()
   at Microsoft.GreatPlains.Web.OrderManagement.UserHelper.get_SalespersonID()
   at Microsoft.GreatPlains.Web.OrderManagement.EOrderHomePageControl.OnInit(EventArgs e)
   at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer)
   at System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl(Control control, Int32 index)
   at Microsoft.GreatPlains.Web.OrderManagement.WebParts.WebPartBase.CreateChildControls()

I understand that I have to add the users to those roles.  I cannot find how to do this.  I have deleted users and readded them with every single role and I still cannoy view the pages.  Anyone have any idea?

Thanks

Adam

    Adam,

    Check out my reply to your other post for the unknown error.  The error you mention above explains why you can't get to the Orders page, but the Purchasing page error is due to a different issue.

    Assigning the customer or salesperson advanced roles (with employee assignments) should get you by this issue for the Orders page.  I assume that you're going to Site Actions > Site Settings > Business Portal Administration > Users or Roles?  There may be a slight delay due to caching, but it should work.  You could reset IIS if you want to make sure.

    Thanks

    Rob
