Hi:

I have noticed that if you create a Released Production Order from scratch and forget to put in a Location Code in the "Posting" FastTab, you can get error messages everywhere pertaining to a missing Location Code.

Is there a way of somehow defaulting the Location Code, into the Released Production order, instead of adding it later and conducting obligatory troubleshooting?

In the Manufacturing configuration, the field should be completed:

Components at Location:

Specifies the inventory location from which the components of the production orders will be sourced.

Hello John,

Yes you are right, When we are creating Released Production order from Scratch by default system will not fetch Location Code under Posting Fast-tab from any default setup, user needs to enter it manually, talking about component at location field on manufacturing setup, it will consider it as a Component default location and it will update default location of components from that specific location component will be consumed. you can check it under Released Production Order > Line > Components.

To answer your question as per my understanding if you are generating orders using Planning Worksheet then system will fetch location code under Posting Fast-tab by default however when user will manually generating Released Production order then Location Code needs to manually add Location code on that specific order. If you have default Location for all production orders then you required AL Customization that sets the Location Code based on user, company, or item-specific logic.
