Name changes in AD not reflected in CRM

A lady was recently married and her name changed.  AD reflects this and everything displays her new name except for CRM.  Is there a way to force CRM to reflect the new values being pushed from AD?  I have tried to delete and recreate the user, but it will not let me.

    Hi,

THe easiest way would be to update the first name, last name, display name right in crm.  There is no out of the box functionality that syncs ad information into crm.  This could be developed, but would be custom code.

Thanks Alex.  It did let me change the last name, which will most likely be fine by her.  However, the "Domain Login Name" field will not save when I try to change this.  It recognizes that this is a valid AD user, but when I try to save I receive the generic error:

"You are attmepting to create a user with a domain logon that is already used by another user.  Select another domain logon and try again."

When I fill in the "Domain Login Name" field, it populates the other fields based off of what we have in AD.  To my knowledge, that is not done via custom code.

    Hi,

    This error:

"You are attempting to create a user with a domain logon that is already used by another user.  Select another domain logon and try again."

typicaly indicates that another user (enabled OR disabled) already exists with this domain logon.  Check both enabled/disabled users and see if one has this domain logon.

Correct - the populating of the first name, last name, telephone, etc from AD is out of the box functionality.  IT populates just once when the user is being setup.

What you could do is add her updated login as a new user in CRM, reassign everything from her old user, and disable her old user.

That would update everything from AD again, and match her new user name.

I saw a workaround on another CRM related blog and have used it successfully ever since.

In CRM, I open the user acct of the user who had the name change, and then change the name to an AD user who DOES NOT have a CRM account. (I am not referring to a disabled CRM user acct, but an AD user who has NEVER had a CRM acct... We use a 'dummy' or utility acct from AD).

I'll add that user's (the dummmy/utility) AD acct info (in place of the user who had the name change) and then I select 'Save', (NOT Save and Close).

After the 'Save' operation takes place, I then add the new/updated acct (of the user who had the name change), and then select Save (or Save and Close, if you so choose).

This has worked flawlessly for me every time I've used it.

    Hope this helps!
