Auto Numbering based on condition or events

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I was exploring Auto numbering system and it is perfectly working fine. Now I would like to tweak it. I want to make the auto numbering based on some conditions or events. For eg,  if the checkbox is selected in the form and save, increment otherwise it should not. Is there any way to achieve this ?

Please help. Thanks

    Hi Aric,

I have downloaded solution mentioned in

    github.com/.../CeledonAutoNumber_1_2_0_0.zip

I think this solution is build for latest version of CRM. Is there any possible way to use in CRM 2011

It looks like you might have a mismatch between your version of CRM, and the solution that you're trying to import. What is your CRM version ?

This is looking good. I have download the solution and tried to import it. But it is getting some xml error. Could you please help me if I share the error details. It is given below

The element 'attribute' has invalid child element 'IntroducedVersion'. List of possible elements expected: 'ReferencedEntityObjectTypeCode, displaynames, optionset, CanModifyRequirementLevelSettings, CalculationOf, CanModifyFieldLevelSecuritySettings, LookupTypes, IsLogical, AccuracySource, Format, IsCustomizable, Accuracy, AggregateOf, LookupBrowse, MaxValue, MaxLength, MinValue, Length, XmlAbbreviation, OptionSetName, Descriptions, AppDefaultValue, IsRenameable, AttributeOf, CanModifyAdditionalSettings, CanModifySearchSettings, YomiOf, LookupStyle, LinkedAttribute'.

    Thanks

That would probably require you to develop your own autonumbering solution.

It is possible that you might be able to do this with the AutoNumber from Celedon Partners, but I am not sure.

    celedonpartners.com/.../celedon-autonumber-solution-for-dynamics-crm

A lot of the solutions out there are free and provide source code, so you might be able to modify their source code and get it working on your solution.

    Hope this helps.
