In the configuration console under companies there is a column "NAME". This represent the Database names however the name has a dash -curr at the end of the database name. What does -curr represent and is it a potential problem

Hello MR 2012 users.  I have an MR database that is 800Gb.  At one point, I wrote SQL to remove all non-essential versions of reports dating back to 2012.  Once deleted and SQL DB compacted, the size went down to 160Gb.  Then, for some misguided reason, I used a script to rebuild indexes on all tables.  This increased the size up to 380Gb.  Since then, it has grown to the 800Gb size it is now.  My question is, can I remove all the indexes that seemed to add to much to the size?

    Hi Michael,

the -curr extension was added at some point during a CU update to distinguish the Legacy Connector (-curr) from the DataMart connector..

If you used to have your companies using the Legacy connector in older versions, the reports where all linked to GP by the regular company NAME, which could become a problem when upgrading and all of a sudden your reports can't find the GP companies anymore, because you sticked with the Legacy connector.

Microsoft assumed that everyone was going to use the Datamart (their recommendation), but unfortunately it's not the case..

There are some ways to get around this without having to change all the report definitions.

    Hello Michael:

I have seen this when importing a company a second time with MR and legacy provider. This doesn't happen with the datamart provider.

Once you disassociate the company without the -curr from the reports its references, MR will then allow you to delete the company without the -CURR.

    Hope this helps.

Have you thought about switching to the datamart provider, I am told the days of the legacy provider are numbered.

    Hope this helps

    Ven
