Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Archived)

Clone button and add action

Posted on by 452

Ok very new to this but this task sounded so simple I had to try.

Of course it is not working.

My goal is to Close the Opportunity at the same time I am closing the Quote but still have the Contract be created when the quote is one.

I selected the existing Closeaswon label and right clicked in Ribbon Workbench and selected Customize button.

I then added an action.

So the action I added is  Mscrm.Form.opportunity.MarkAsWon

I have tried this before and after the msdyn.quote.closeAsWon

This actually makes nothing happen.

Neither is closing and I am not getting a contract created.

It asks me to confirm I want to close as won, but then does nada.

What did I miss?

If am not wrong you are trying to clone/copy  any record even though whatever status it. If so you can create a custom button and called "Clone/Copy" upon click it will auto populate all the record details instead of typing everything

    You can refer below.

I am not 100% clear on what you are trying to do, it seems like multiple questions in one, but Basically customizing the command bar does not provide you any additional functionality in sense of performing backend actions.

In order to perform backend operations (such as Closing an Opportunity), you need to do this with Workflows, Plugins or using the webapi.

You can probably create a workflow on the Change of the Status of the Quote to Change the Status of the Opportunity.

You can do an additional action (Create the Contract), when the Change of the Status Reason field of the Quote is set to won.

Here is a good link to get you started with workflows:

    Hope this helps.
