Hi All,

The company i work for have a CRM v4 instance which they will soon be moving to CRM online. we want to be able to view records that have not yet been migrated into CRM online, such as activities for an account etc. we aim to migrate the GUID of the record in CRM 4 into a hidden field in CRM online.

the idea is then place a button on the ribbon which calls a JS function to build the URL query string to CRM 4 and then display it in a new window.

Is this possible or is there another approach to take ?

will your old version of CRM 4 be visible via the internet?

e..g CRM online is hosted on a server somewhere, this request will then try to open a page on your CRM 4.

is your CRM 4 instance IFD.

My question is the same if your 4.0 environment is IFD. If not, this would not be possible. However, if the instance is being moved to CRM Online, what is the need to query from the 4.0 org?

Many thanks for your reply, my question is how would authentication work?

Would it ask for user authentication first time or?

It would work however it works for users who open CRM4.0 URLs directly, there is nothing magic about them being opened by a javascript or a clickable link. If they are using CRM 4.0 on premise with windows authentication, it will just open. If using IFD and the links open their internal URL, then this will use SSO; if IFD and external URL they will get ADFS prompt for the first one.
