I am using a Mac running Safari 16.2.

The keyboard shortcut to invoke the Tell Me window is CTRL Option Q for a Mac. However, this shortcut does not work for me. Is there a setting that I need to change to get this to work?

I have the same question (0)

    hi

It's possible that the keyboard shortcut for the Tell Me window in Business Central is conflicting with another keyboard shortcut in Safari. To check this, you can try disabling any other keyboard shortcuts in Safari that use the same key combination.

Here's how to check for and disable conflicting keyboard shortcuts in Safari:

Open Safari and click on "Safari" in the menu bar.

    Click on "Preferences".

    Click on the "Shortcuts" tab.

Look for any keyboard shortcuts that use the same key combination as the Tell Me window shortcut (CTRL Option Q).

Disable any conflicting shortcuts by unchecking the box next to them.

If disabling conflicting shortcuts doesn't solve the issue, you can also try changing the keyboard shortcut for the Tell Me window in Business Central to a different key combination that doesn't conflict with any other shortcuts. Here's how to change the keyboard shortcut:

    Open Business Central in Safari.

Click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen to open the "Settings and more" menu.

    Click on "Keyboard Shortcuts".

Find the "Tell Me" shortcut and click on it.

Enter a new keyboard shortcut that doesn't conflict with any other shortcuts.

Click "Save" to save the new shortcut.

Once you've changed the keyboard shortcut for the Tell Me window, you should be able to use the new shortcut to open the window in Business Central.

    Thank you for the suggestions.

I am running Safari 16.2 and there is not a shortcuts tab in Settings (this used to be called Preferences). I have checked Keyboard shortcuts in Settings/Keyboard/Keyboard Shortcuts and there are no conflicting shortcuts as far as I can see.

In business central, I don't have a Keyboard Shortcuts under Settings - see attached imagepastedimage1678567821189v1.png

One other thing I should mention is that if I run Business Central in Brave, Ctrl Option Q works.

You can not modify the shortcuts in Business Central so you will have to find a setting in your browser where you can unassign the browsers default shortcut for Ctrl+Q

    Hi, I'm sorry I don't have a mac device.

is there a conflict with the app shortcuts of the browser or other standard apps?

And more details in MS Learn (Docs)

Click Start, then head to Settings > System > Update & Security. Click Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Under Find and fix other problems, select Keyboard. Select Run the troubleshooter to start the scan.
