With a modification. The OnValidate of the field will need altering so it runs a procedure to check the name value against all other records. I’m sure your Microsoft partner can help with this requirement.

Alternative would be to control onboarding outside of BC. I have clients who use a Microsoft Form and it then goes through an approval process with power automate. A name check could form part of that. On approved data gets into BC

Is there really a business need for this? You now have functionality to merge vendors if someone by accident should create any doublets.

And using some kind of company registration no. would be a better way to avoid doublets. People can type the "same" name in lots of various ways.

Hi, Vendor Name is not a primary key, so the standard cannot do this.
Unless you put the Vendor Name directly in the No., but I don't think the length is enough, so this may require a little customization.

When you enter a new Vendor Name, or modify the Vendor Name, search all the vendor lists, if there are duplicates, it will prompt an error.

    A simple example:

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.
