ADX Studio Portals - Consolidated User / Password Sign Up

Posted on by 77

I have AdxStudiosPortal: 7.0.0062 running on CRM 2015.

Access to the Portal is provided by way of inviting existing Contacts in CRM.  This sends out an email where users can click on to be directed to the redeem invitation page where they provide a Username / Password combination they want to use to log in.

A requirement came in that needed users to access the Portal if they are not a Contact in CRM.  So a Web Page was created with a form which, on submission, effectively created a Customer (Account) and Contact record in CRM and automatically invited them to the portal.  The registration process is 3 steps:

1: Register on the portal (provide Company Name, Your Name, Email Address etc).

2: Wait for invitation email with link.  Click on it.

3: Provide the Username / Password combination you would like to use.

The client wants this process consolidated so that the information in step 1 and 3 are obtained in a single step.

I've been looking at the latest ADX Studio Portals version which has open registration option.  I can't see from the documentation for sure that this will allow me to do the above.  Is this possible with the new version of Portals if I upgrade to the latest version?  Has anyone else done this or can advise?  Is an upgrade necessary?  Is it possible to achieve this using the version above without open registration?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Adxstudio "open registration" does everything you describe effectively in one step *except* create the account.  This should be doable on the version you are using.

What you could do is enable open registration (the profile page has a field for company name) and then have a workflow that will create the account based on the company name entered.  I would recommend you make the company name a required field.

    Caveats:

You might end up with duplicate accounts (but you likely are now based on your current process)

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers
