Voiding mis-applied cash receipt

Posted on by 610

Typically we do Financial>Sales>Cash Receipts> to record customer pmts we receive and to apply those payments to the correct invoices.  Then we do Financial>Bank Deposits to record the payments to the Check Register.

We realized that we applied a payment received to the wrong customer and now want to void the receipt and re-do the entire process for the correct customer.  Is there a way to do this?

Scroll down until you see it or the original amount you paid for.

I have the same question as DawnKelly.  Can anyone help?

I am trying to do the same type of void.  My payment transaction description is not showing in the Apply Sales Documents Window.  Why would that be?

Yes.  Unapply the payment using 'Apply Sales Documents' window.  Then, void the payment in the 'Posted Transactions' window.  This will also void/reverse the deposit in the checkbook.

Then, re-enter the payment to the correct customer and re-deposit to the checkbook.
