Profiles

Posted on by 389

Hi,

We have NAV 2016 and I block all user customizations and only make changes via configuration mode for a profile. If I set up one profile as required, how can I then replicate the customizations I have made (i.e. Sales order screen, purchase order screen) from that profile to another?

It takes a really long time to customize an inventory card, customer card, sales order screen etc so to have to do this over and over for every profile we use in the company seems very time consuming.

Alex

    Thanks for all the responses.

What I'm getting at is I want the ability to customize a Sales Order screen, Purchase Invoice scree etc then apply it globally to all/selected profiles in configuration mode.

The reason for this is because we have users that perform multiple roles as well as our accountants wanting the ability to view a sales order and it be the same format as the order processors.

NAV assumes everyone performs a single role and is not very flexible.

I'm not sure I'm getting you correctly, but have you tried to copy profiles? msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh179579(v=nav.90).aspx

Here is room for major improvements. The UI and user experience could be improved a lot in this area. Nav has lots of useless actions filling up in the ribbon. Why not just make the most important actions visible and then hide the rest. And the same goes for columns in lists and fields on cards. Here only a subset of table fields are visible and no fields have been hidden for the user to make visible. Why not make almost all fields hidden and only a subset visible.
