GP 2010 crashes intermittently with the use of Send Document in Email

ReportReport
Posted on by

Version of GP - 2010 SP3, Windows Server 2008 R2 (Terminal Servers), Office 2010 32 bit, SQL Server 2008 R2

Multiple users are facing the same issue. The number of invoices generated does not matter. Crashes occur with single invoices as well as multiples. When the application recovers the same user is able to generate the same invoice to email without an issue.

Many thanks in advance for any kind suggestions/ideas. (Have tried re-creating the report.dic, no impact).

Only error shown and captured on the event log is:

It seems to be a problem with the way GP interacts with Outlook Address Book. The problem was resolved by setting the Closest GC to '1' in the registry. Refer to the KB article KB319206 for registry key details.

Thanks Sanjay, and yes I have read that particular post from Mariano amongst many others around GP crashes. Unfortunately in our case the faulting module is the Dynamics.exe itself. It works beautifully most of the time. Only with the use of Send Document in Email it crashes like this.

I take your point on collecting performance data, will try and collate as much as possible on that front.

    Did read this one ?

    dynamicsgpblogster.blogspot.com/.../terminal-server-dynamicsexe-encountered.html

monitor Load and resource utilization information on the server and attempt to collect the data when the issue occurs.  Tools like task manager-resource monitor, procmon (sysinternals) should  provide you data to analyze.

    Happy hunting!

    Sanjay
