I personally have not worked with PaperSave. This old thread has some information that might be of an added value - PaperSave
We are current PaperSave customers. We implemented the product in late 2009. I have a love / hate relationship with this product. The basic premise of scanning a document in and attaching it to a record works fairly well. I love that they did the actual implementation of the product. Here is what I have a problem with.
1. Upgrades - We have updated the product several times over the course of having it in our environment, and I can't tell you the last time I had an upgrade that went without a problem. We don't have a test environment setting around because our PaperSave database is right around 120gb and while we're not limited on space in the environment it just isn't that easy to keep a dedicated testing setup of SQL and the PS application server on standby. I will say that in most of the cases when we had a problem the answer was to upgrade the product.
2. Mass Modification - We had additional companies setup in GP and we sold those companies off and deleted the GP company databases because they are no longer needed. There is not a tool with PS that allows you to mass purge the data. We contacted them and they advised it would be professional services request to the tune of like 6 hours to purge this data. You can try and purge the records yourself but the process is nasty. So we chose to hold onto the data until I can fully write the delete script. So we have something like 280,000 records of data just hanging around.
3. If you create workflows outside of GP for any of your custom 3rd party applications be aware that PS does not support the Workflow Viewer in this manner. We did not find this out until after we reached a limit where the software would stop showing us documents that we had set to a complete state. So again we have 200K + documents we could not view. They offered to build us a viewer to access this information but the price for the product was a bit off putting. So I wrote a custom application that retrieves this data based on the metadata for the records in SQL.
With regards to usability the software is easy to work with. Once you understand what the 3 main pieces of the software do and how they work together it's easy. If your main objective is simply attaching records in GP then PaperSave is a great product and works well. But as the adage goes your mileage may vary. If you have additional questions please feel free to ask and I'd be glad to answer them.
