I have been working with POS 2009 for a couple of weeks now and have been building data bases under different configurations. My most recent experience was to install SQL Express from the free download and reassign the data partition to the D: drive. We needed to do this because the server has a separate partition for the data. The POS 2009 application forces you to put the data on the C drive. Anyway, our instance is SQLEXPRESS. We restored our data base to the server, after having restored it to several workstations successfully and using the application. We are able to connect to the server and execute the application however, the database is not recognizing our user name and login, probably because of the tight integration of POS 2009 and domain users vs local workstation users. Any ideas of how we can establish one user that has access to the POS 2009 database that we have restored to the server? I wasn't sure if the Tool to change the password would work in this instance but we're going to give that a try. I thought I might have done something else incorrectly that would have cause this to happen. MS wants us to install the application with a new SQL instance called MSPOSInstance but that is not an option because the application will force the data to be on the C drive.
