adx_bingmaplookupbase takes up 20+ gigs. safe to delete?

Hi all,

we are using Dynamics 365 customer engagement & marketing and I'm trying to shrink down the database.

In the power platform admin center, I saw that the adx_bingmaplookupbase takes up a lot of space (more then 20 gigs).

We are not using the bing map on the account and contact forms. This is also disabled in settings (however, it was enabled when we first migrated to the cloud).

Is it safe to delete these adx_bingmaplookupbase  records in order to regain some databasecapacity?

    Hi Marianne,

yes, the ms support team was able to help me. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the communication with the team, but in short I deleted a lot of old logfiles. Then, ms support executed some stored procedures on the database. This released more then 10 gigs.

Then, I had the same issue with the WebResourceBase table, which gained 6 gigs due to the previous procedures. They were able to help me with that issue also.

    Kind regards,

    Bjorn

    Hi Björn

Did you get help from the support team? I also have a adx_bingmaplookupBase taking up too much space while not using Bing Maps.

    Kind regards

    Marianne

    Hi Wahaj,

thanks for your response. We use the cloud version, so no direct database access.

Because of the huge amount of space these records use, we are exceeding our storage plan and I'm not able to restore a copy for test purposes.

I just submitted a ticket to the dynamics support team.

    thanks.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your query.

To be honest, I am not sure how it will impact if you remove this data. A safer approach would be to take advise from Microsoft (they might share a script or some steps with you).

Please note, truncating a table or deleting data on database level is not recommended.

If you need to delete this, try using Bulk Record Deletion Job:

    • Go To Advanced Settings -> Data Management -> Bulk Record Deletion.
    • Create a Bulk Record Deletion Job for this entity.

Again, I would recommend this on a trial/test environment before you do it on production.
