Hi All,

I'm using NAV 5.0 SP1 with SQL 2012 Express Edition, When I try to create new database I'm getting error sys that

"Trace Flag 4616 not set on the server". is Trace flag really required for 5.0 SP1.

Thanks

Marshal

    RE: Trace flag 4616 Error

    Hi Castro

    Thanks for your quick reply, this msdn blog says "Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 and Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1, trace flag 4616 is no longer required"

    blogs.msdn.com/.../sql-server-trace-flag-4616-no-longer-required-for-dynamics-nav-2009-sp1.aspx

    if it is no longer required then why I'm getting this error ?

    Thanks

    Marshal

    Is it possible that the environment you are using (nav machines, sql server, server itself) come from an upgrade from a previous version of NAV?

    RE: Trace flag 4616 Error

    First go into your configuration manager. Usually it is located here:

    -> Microsoft SQL Server 2012
    -> Configuration Tools
    -> SQL Server Configuration Manager

    Next go into properties for your SQL Server Instance:

    • Select SQL Server 2012 Services
    • In the right window, you will now see your SQL Server
    • Right click on your server on select properties

    Now all that is to do – is adding the trace flag

    • In the open window select Advanced
    • Find Startup Parameters
    • Add -T 4616 to the end

    Example:
    -dc:\Programmer\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\master.mdf;-ec:\Programmer\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG;-lc:\Programmer\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\mastlog.ldf;-T 4616

    Now select OK – restart you SQL Server Service, hereafter you will be able to create/use databases with Navision

    Try with -T 4616.

    Make sure you are putting "-" before the command.

    Hi All

    This is because of compatibility.  NAV5.0 and , NAV5.0SP1 are not supported in  SQL2012, Please check below link

    Hi Marshal,

    Don't add parameter after ldf, add New line -T4616 it worked for me.

    Regards
