Hi all,

I am trying to migrate data from Organization A to Organization B.

The entity that I am trying to import data for has structure as such that it contains self join (It has a parent child lookup). The parent lookup is also the same entity.

The issue that I am facing is that when I try to export it exports fine and when I check XML file I also see my record as I want it to but when I import this in the target environment, the lookup reference does not get resolved and it comes as empty, however, the lookup record is already available on the target environment.

How can I solve this issue? Because I am using automated deployments and I need to have a permanent fix for this.

I am using CRM v8.2

Hi Faran,

my approach would be a 2 phase import process.

1. Import all entities. (remove parent lookup attribute)

2. Update parent lookup attributes.

If this is a one time operation you might can use the free version of: KDDM: https://docs.kuppsoft.com/KD-Tooling-Deployment/Reference/Steps/ExportDataStep
(Is a commercial product for enterprise projects but the community version is free for local execution)

CI/CD:
To include it to your automated deployments you will need some kind of custom script.
Should be possible within a few hours, depending on your data set (paging etc. )
