Clarification on Bank account statement ‘Balance Open’ and ‘Balance Close’ in General Journals

Hello to everyone!
 
I’ve been exploring the General Journals and noticed something intriguing. On the lower right side, there’s a bank account statement with options for ‘Balance Open’ and ‘Balance Close’. Interestingly, they always show a zero balance.
 
I’m sure there’s a logical explanation for this, but it’s eluding me at the moment. Could anyone shed some light on how these options are used? Maybe a few examples could help me (and possibly others) understand better.

    Which version you are in right now? I have a feeling this is a customization, because in standard this option is not available.

    Hi,
    I also suspect it is customization, there is no such option in my standard test environment (version: 10.0.38). You can ask your developer or the person who customized this option to clarify what this option means.
